Ghanaian national football team, the Black Stars, have touched down in Meknes ahead of their highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic (CAR), set for Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

After camping in Casablanca since Sunday, the team made the move to Meknes the official venue for the match following the arrival of all 24 invited players.

During their stay in Casablanca, the Black Stars conducted two intensive training sessions at the renowned Mohammed V Sports Complex. These sessions focused on tactical drills, team cohesion, and match sharpness as Head Coach Otto Addo and his technical team worked to fine-tune preparations for what could be a pivotal encounter in Ghana’s World Cup qualification journey.

Upon arrival in Meknes, the squad is set to hold one final training session at Stade D’Honneur de Meknes on Tuesday, October 7 at 16:00 GMT. This session will serve as the final opportunity to adapt to the pitch conditions and refine the game plan ahead of the crucial tie.

Black Stars

Ghana currently sits at the summit of Group I with 19 points, holding a narrow lead as the African qualifiers approach their climax. With just two matches remaining, the Black Stars are firmly in control of their destiny and are aiming to secure a fifth appearance at football’s biggest stage, having previously qualified in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022.

A victory against the Central African Republic would put Ghana within touching distance of sealing qualification for the 2026 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The clash in Meknes promises to be a tense and competitive affair, with the Black Stars expected to field a strong lineup in their pursuit of another memorable World Cup campaign.
