Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has returned to the Ghana national team setup in a new strategic capacity, taking up the role of Clubs and Player Relations Manager.
Gyan, Ghana’s all-time leading scorer, will be tasked with strengthening relations between the Black Stars, players and their respective clubs while helping to enhance player welfare, communication and engagement.
The new role marks another chapter in Gyan’s long-standing association with the national team, having represented Ghana at the highest level for more than a decade. The former striker captained the Black Stars at multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and featured at three FIFA World Cups.
Gyan remains Ghana’s record international goalscorer, having scored 51 goals for the Black Stars.
His wealth of experience, leadership and strong relationship with several members of the current national team are expected to be valuable as Ghana seeks to build greater cohesion within the Black Stars setup.
In his capacity as Clubs and Player Relations Manager, Gyan will serve as an important link between the technical team, players and their clubs. His responsibilities will include facilitating communication on player call-ups, supporting player welfare and helping to address issues that may arise between the national team and clubs.
He will also play a role in mentoring and supporting the playing body, drawing on his extensive experience of international football and his years as one of Ghana’s most influential players.

Gyan’s return to the Black Stars setup brings a familiar and respected figure into the team’s support structure, with his new position focused on improving communication, strengthening relationships and creating a better environment for players representing Ghana.
