Popular Ghanaian rapper Amerado, who is renowned for his explosive performances and lyrical style , has drawn attention for his recent comments challenging the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) Charterhouse nomination procedure. The musician expressed his confusion on social media when his popular song “Kwaku Ananse” was not nominated for any awards.

The TGMA nominations were unveiled during a highly-anticipated launch event held on March 28, 2024, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). While Amerado celebrated two nominations for his songs “Kwaku Ananse Remix” featuring Fameye in the Best Collaboration category and “The Hardest” in the Best Rap Performance category, he was left perplexed by the absence of the original version of “Kwaku Ananse” from the list.

In a tweet posted shortly after the nominations were announced, Amerado directly addressed the organizers of the awards, expressing his confusion and seeking clarification on why the original version of “Kwaku Ananse” was overlooked. The rapper’s tweet sparked a flurry of responses from fans and industry insiders alike, with many echoing his sentiments and calling for transparency in the nomination process.

“Dear @GHMusicAwards, Why was Kwaku Ananse (original) not nominated?” Amerado’s tweet read, highlighting his disappointment and desire for answers.

“Kwaku Ananse,” a standout track in Amerado’s discography, has garnered widespread acclaim since its release, earning praise for its catchy hooks, infectious beats, and clever wordplay. The song’s popularity among fans and its impact on the music scene make its absence from the nominations all the more puzzling.

While the rapper awaits a response from the award organizers, he remains grateful for the recognition he has received for his other works. Both “Kwaku Ananse Remix” and “The Hardest” showcase Amerado’s versatility and talent, earning him well-deserved nods in their respective categories.
