Nii Nortey K. Oquaye was formally enstooled as Oblantaa Mantse I, the Youth Chief of Osu, under the authority of the Osu Traditional Council. The solemn yet celebratory ceremony brought together eminent traditional leaders, elders, youth groups, and residents who gathered to witness the assumption of a vital traditional office dedicated to youth leadership and development.
The enstoolment was performed by Nii Nortey Omantuo VII, in accordance with Osu custom and tradition, marking the official investiture of Nii Nortey K. Oquaye with the responsibilities and authority of Oblantaa Mantse. The occasion underscored the enduring relevance of chieftaincy institutions in guiding community life, particularly in mentoring and mobilizing the younger generation.

As Oblantaa Mantse I, Nii Nortey K. Oquaye is charged with providing leadership for the youth of Osu, fostering unity, discipline, and social responsibility, while promoting initiatives that advance education, skills development, and community progress. The Osu Traditional Council, in its address, emphasized that the role of the Oblantaa Mantse is rooted in service, respect for tradition, and mentorship, noting that the youth remain the backbone of Osu’s future.
In his acceptance remarks, Nii Nortey K. Oquaye expressed profound gratitude to the Osu Traditional Council, the elders, and the people of Osu for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to serve with humility and dedication, reaffirming his commitment to youth empowerment, educational advocacy, and community development. He called on the youth to embrace unity, discipline, and cultural pride as pillars for collective advancement.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of representatives of the Osu Ashante, whose participation highlighted the deep interconnections among the traditional quarters of Osu. The Osu Ashante Blohum Dzaase, as established by the forefathers, is composed of seven principal houses: Adumuah We (Mankralo), Ako We (Mankralo), Manko We (Mankralo), Nii We (Dzaasetse), Sanshie (Osiahene), Noi-Tsuru We (Wulomo), and Akosen We.

The Mankralo, head of the Osu Ashante Quarter and the Dzaase, occupies a position that rotates among three houses, while the quarter itself is home to the Osu Klottey Wulomo, the spiritual head of the four divisions of Osu. The Ashante Blohum Dzaase serves as the highest traditional, administrative, and disciplinary authority within the Osu Ashante Quarter, which is one of the four constituent quarters that together form the Osu state in the Greater Accra Region.
The successful coordination of the enstoolment was led by Bridget Selassie, the designated point of contact for the King’s personal affairs, ensuring that the rites were conducted with dignity and adherence to tradition.

The enstoolment of Nii Nortey K. Oquaye as Oblantaa Mantse I marks a renewed commitment to youth leadership in Osu, blending time-honored customs with a forward-looking vision for development, unity, and service to the community.
