The official opening of the Ghana Caribbean Week Festival was marked by a significant moment of recognition as Keyon Burton received a plaque of appreciation from the Youth King of OSU Ashante Blohum, Nii Nortey Nsuro Oquaye, for his dedication to cultural respect, diaspora unity, and community collaboration.

The honor was presented during the festival’s opening ceremony, which brought together prominent dignitaries, diplomats, cultural leaders, entertainers, and members of the African and Caribbean diaspora. Keyon Burton was recognized for his commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships between diaspora communities and traditional Ghanaian leadership while promoting mutual understanding and cultural exchange.

In presenting the award, Nii Nortey Nsuro Oquaye commended Keyon Burton for his willingness to work closely with traditional authorities in preserving and respecting the sovereignty, customs, family values, and decency laws of Ghana, particularly within the historic community of OSU.

According to the Youth King, strengthening connections between Ghana, the Caribbean, and the wider African diaspora must be grounded in respect for local traditions and established cultural institutions. He emphasized that international festivals and cultural celebrations should serve as platforms for unity while honoring the customs, heritage, and authority of host communities.
