The Black Stars of Ghana has arrived in Providence, Rhode Island, to begin the final phase of preparations ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

The Black Stars departed Virginia on Thursday afternoon and landed at T.F. Green International Airport at approximately 6:00 p.m., marking another important step in their journey towards football’s biggest tournament.

Head Coach Carlos Queiroz and his 26-man squad are scheduled to resume training on Friday as they intensify preparations for their opening Group L fixture against Panama. The team arrives in Rhode Island following a productive week-long training camp in the Washington metropolitan area, which came on the heels of their international friendly against Wales in Cardiff.

During their stay in Virginia, the Black Stars undertook a series of intensive training sessions at American University and the D.C. United training facility. The camp concluded with a farewell dinner hosted by members of the Ghanaian community in Alexandria, underscoring the strong support the team continues to receive from Ghanaians abroad.

With their focus now firmly on the World Cup, Ghana enters the decisive stage of preparations in Providence before travelling to Toronto for their tournament opener against Panama on June 17 at Toronto Stadium.

The Black Stars will then face England in a highly anticipated Group L encounter in Boston on June 23 before concluding their group-stage campaign against Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.

Black Stars Queiroz’s squad blends experience and attacking quality, led by captain Jordan Ayew and featuring key players such as Thomas Partey, Iñaki Williams, Antoine Semenyo, and goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi, who is set to participate in his second consecutive FIFA World Cup.

In addition to their on-field preparations, the team is expected to engage with local communities through a series of outreach and engagement programmes during their stay in Rhode Island.

As anticipation builds ahead of the tournament, Ghana will be aiming to fine-tune every aspect of their game as they seek a strong start in Group L and a successful World Cup campaign.
