Ahead of Ghana’s opening clash against Panama at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has delivered a powerful message to his squad, insisting that success on football’s biggest stage will depend on discipline, sacrifice, and mentality rather than talent alone.

The experienced Portuguese tactician, who is preparing to guide Ghana to their fifth FIFA World Cup appearance in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, has challenged his players to earn global respect through hard work, humility, and commitment.

“The world will only respect us when our commitment, humility, sacrifice, and mentality are bigger than our talent,” Queiroz told the players during preparations for the tournament.

His comments come as expectations continue to rise around the Black Stars ahead of what promises to be a difficult Group L campaign. Ghana will begin their World Cup journey against Panama in Toronto on June 17 before facing European heavyweights England in Boston and Croatia in Philadelphia.

Queiroz’s statement highlights the mentality he hopes to instill in the squad as Ghana seek to make a strong impact at the tournament. The former Real Madrid and Portugal coach is known for emphasizing tactical discipline, unity, and resilience qualities he believes will be crucial against some of the world’s top football nations.

With the Black Stars aiming to recreate memorable World Cup moments from previous tournaments, the coach’s rallying call is expected to inspire the team as preparations intensify for the global showpiece.
