Harry Maguire, a defender for Manchester United, has disclosed that club Manager Erik ten Hag has removed him from that position

In January 2020, former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer named Maguire captain. Maguire voiced his sadness but vowed to keep giving his all for the squad. The 30-year-old English center back, who cost £80 million to transfer from Leicester City to United, started eight Premier League games last year and has been linked to a move to West Ham.

The team announced that ten Hag would name a new captain “in due course” after alerting the players; the official announcement is most likely to happen when United makes its preseason trip to New York. “After discussions with the manager today, he has informed me he is changing captain,” Maguire wrote in a social media post.

Although I am personally very upset, I will continue to give it my all each time I wear the shirt because he explained his reasoning to me. Maguire thanked the Manchester United supporters for their support when he served as captain, calling it a “huge privilege” and one of his finest professional moments.

He expressed gratitude to previous coach Solskjaer for the trust he had placed in him and wished the next captain well. Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez were Maguire’s rivals in the center of the defense last year, with Victor Lindelof filling in for Martinez when he was injured. Additionally, manager Erik ten Hag frequently used England left-back Luke Shaw as a center-back.

Despite losing the captaincy, Maguire is still dedicated to helping the squad succeed both on and off the field. His contract at Old Trafford continues until 2025.
