TGMA to honor artists of the year with paid events, beginning with Stonebwoy

The Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) has once again celebrated the pinnacle of Ghanaian musical talent in a night filled with spectacular performances, prestigious accolades, and an exciting new announcement that promises to elevate the career of the ‘Artist of the Year’.

At this year’s Industry Mixer, Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communication for Charterhouse Productions Ltd, revealed a groundbreaking initiative, Starting with the celebrated artist Stonebwoy, the ‘Artist of the Year’ will be rewarded with fully paid events, sponsored by Telecel. Klah stated, “Starting with Stonebwoy, Telecel will fully pay for multiple events for the Artiste of the Year, along with other Telecel products.”

The Industry Mixer wasn’t just about the announcement. It was a night of celebration where winners of the TGMA received their customized plaques, symbolizing their achievements in various categories. The evening was made unforgettable with electrifying performances from artists like Stonebwoy, Adane Best, and others, captivating the audience and showcasing the vibrant energy of Ghanaian music.

Stonebwoy, a luminary in the Ghanaian music scene, clinched the ‘Artist of the Year’ award at the 25th TGMA. This significant achievement, marking his second win in this prestigious category, was celebrated at the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Centre. The event, held on June 1, 2024, was a grand affair, hosted by the charismatic Chris Atoh and the elegant Naa Ashorkor.

The awards night was packed with notable performances from stars like Epixode, Efya Nokturnal, and Kuami Eugene. One of the most poignant moments of the evening was the legendary Highlife artiste Amakye Dede receiving a lifetime achievement award. The tribute included stirring renditions of his classic hits by various artists before he graced the stage himself, leaving the audience in awe.

The competition for the ‘Artist of the Year’ award was fierce, featuring top nominees such as Black Sherif, King Promise, Kuami Eugene, Nacee, Sarkodie, and of course, Stonebwoy. This lineup underscored the diversity and richness of talent within the Ghanaian music industry, making Stonebwoy’s win even more significant.
