The 100 Black Men of Ghana, in collaboration with Hooked On ENT, launched a youth empowerment initiative dubbed “Self-Defense Training & Meet the Champ” in Labone. The event featured a self-defense workshop led by Ahmed Abdula, Ghana’s top Cruiserweight contender, focusing on youth engagement with the sports icon rather than practical skills. A luncheon sponsored by the Oquaye Foundation followed the session.

“Empowering mind, body, and purpose”

Speaking on the impact of the event, Nii Nortey Nsuro Oquaye, the Oblantaa Mantse I of Osu, reaffirmed the organization’s mission:

“The mission of 100 Black Men of Ghana has always centered on mentorship and empowerment. Our mentorship program with Ahmed Abdula further strengthens our Four Pillars: Mentorship, Education, Health & Wellness, and Economic Empowerment. Through physical training and discipline, we’re empowering our youth to build confidence, practice self-protection, and embrace holistic development of mind, body, and purpose.”

Ahmed Abdula, celebrated both in and out of the ring, expressed his excitement for the collaboration and the chance to inspire the next generation:

“This isn’t just about learning how to fight; it’s about teaching our youth to defend themselves mentally, physically, and emotionally. I’m honored to join hands with 100 Black Men Ghana to build stronger, safer, and more confident communities.”
