The Black Stars of Ghana have touched down in Benina, Libya, ahead of their highly anticipated TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Matchday Four qualifier against Sudan. The team departed Accra at 10:40 a.m. and arrived at Benina International Airport at 6:30 p.m. local time, signaling the start of their final preparations for the must-win encounter.

Following a disappointing goalless draw against Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium last Thursday, this upcoming match is pivotal for Ghana as they look to keep their qualification hopes alive. Currently sitting third in Group F with two points, a victory is essential to close the gap on second-placed Sudan and leaders Angola.

As part of their buildup to Tuesday’s clash, the Black Stars will hold a mandatory pre-match training session at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Monday, October 14. Coach Otto Addo will use the session to fine-tune the team’s strategy, focusing on converting chances and maintaining defensive solidity after missed opportunities cost them in the first leg.

The game, scheduled for 13:00 GMT on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, is crucial for Ghana’s AFCON campaign. A win would not only boost morale but also significantly improve their standing in Group F, bringing them closer to securing a spot in next year’s AFCON tournament in Morocco.

Ghana currently trails behind Sudan, who sit in second place with four points, and leaders Angola, who have a commanding nine points. A win for the Black Stars would catapult them into a competitive position as they strive to move past Sudan and challenge Angola in the final stages of qualification.

The stakes are high, and all eyes will be on the Black Stars as they aim to reignite their campaign with a decisive victory in Libya.
