Fresh off securing a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Ghana’s senior national football team, the Black Stars, took time on Monday to give back to the community with a heartfelt donation to the Osu Children’s Home in Accra.
Led by Head Coach Otto Addo, the team’s technical staff paid a visit to the home, offering donations and spending time with the children as part of a larger initiative to support vulnerable communities and foster social responsibility among the team.
The delegation included Technical Advisor Winfried Schäfer, Assistant Coaches Desmond Ofei Sakyi, John Paintsil, Fatau Dauda, Kris Perquy, Team Psychologist Gregory De Grauwe, Video Analysts, Physiotherapists Samuel Ankomah, Major Albert Evedzi, and Edward Ababio, along with Team Manager Ameenu Shardow.
Speaking on behalf of the team, Coach Otto Addo emphasized the importance of the visit:
“We are not only representing Ghana on the pitch; we are ambassadors off it. These children are part of our future, and it’s important that we support them and let them know they are not forgotten.”
The donation, which included essential supplies, food items, and other materials for the home, was warmly received by the staff and children. It forms part of the Black Stars’ broader vision to build stronger ties with local communities and contribute meaningfully beyond football.
This act of goodwill came just hours after Ghana sealed its qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. The Black Stars defeated Comoros 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium, finishing the qualification campaign with 25 points, from 8 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss a strong performance that sees them heading to their fifth World Cup.
