The Black Stars of Ghana are set to depart Accra on Tuesday, September 2, for N’Djamena, Chad, as preparations intensify for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier scheduled for Thursday, September 4.

Head coach Otto Addo will travel with a full complement of 24 invited players, as Ghana looks to tighten its grip at the top of Group I. The team has been based in Accra over the past week, engaging in rigorous training sessions at the Accra Sports Stadium.

On Monday, twelve players participated in the penultimate session before departure, with the remainder of the squad expected to join the traveling party on Tuesday. Upon arrival in N’Djamena, the Black Stars will hold their final training session on Wednesday, fine-tuning tactics ahead of Thursday’s showdown.

Ghana will face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno at 1:00 PM local time, in what is expected to be a high-stakes encounter. The Black Stars have amassed 15 points from six matches, boasting five wins and a single loss, a strong showing that currently places them at the summit of Group I.

A victory against Chad would move Ghana one step closer to securing a coveted spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico. The top team from each group automatically qualifies for the global showpiece, making every point crucial in the remaining fixtures.

His squad blends experienced international campaigners with emerging talents eager to leave their mark on the global stage.

Following the Chad fixture, the Black Stars will conclude their qualification campaign in October with matches against Central African Republic and Comoros.
