The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that members of the Black Stars technical team were involved in a road accident earlier today. The incident occurred while they were returning from Tarkwa after observing the highly anticipated Champion of Champions clash between FC Samartex 1996 and Nsoatreman FC.
The vehicle, a Land Cruiser with registration number GR 6521-21, was carrying Head Coach Otto Addo, Assistant Coach John Paintsil, and Goalkeepers Trainer Fatawu Dauda. According to reports, the accident was narrowly avoided when a pickup truck veered into their lane, forcing the Land Cruiser to swerve and sustain some damage. Fortunately, the quick thinking of the driver averted what could have been a devastating head-on collision.
The GFA is pleased to announce that all three members of the technical team are in stable condition. As a precaution, they will undergo further medical evaluations upon their return to Accra. This proactive step is being taken to ensure that the coaching staff is fully fit and ready to lead the Black Stars in their upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
“We appreciate the concern and support shown by the public during this time. The technical team is in good spirits and focused on the crucial tasks ahead,” a GFA representative stated.
