Black Stars Touch Down in Oujda, Morocco for the Niger Game

The Black Stars have arrived in Oujda, Morocco, with a crucial mission ahead of them as they prepare for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Group F qualifier against Niger. After a disappointing loss to Angola on Thursday, the pressure is on Ghana’s national team to secure a vital win in their next match and stay in contention for one of the top two spots in the group.

Twenty-three players made the trip to Morocco, with Los Angeles Galaxy forward Joseph Painstil notably absent due to passport issues. Painstil has remained in Accra to resolve the matter before returning to the United States to rejoin his club.

The team, led by head coach Otto Addo, is focused on making a strong comeback. The upcoming clash against the Menas of Niger at the Berkane Municipal Stadium on Monday, September 9, 2024, is seen as a must-win encounter. Training sessions are set for Saturday and Sunday, as the Black Stars fine-tune their tactics and regain their confidence after the recent setback.

The 23-man squad includes, Goalkeepers Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Joseph Wollacott, and Frederick Asare are ready to defend Ghana’s goal, while defenders like Alidu Seidu, Tariq Lamptey, Jerome Opoku, and Mohammed Salisu will bolster the team’s backline.

Defense Midfielder Thomas Partey, alongside Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Elisha Owusu, and others, is expected to command the center of the pitch. Upfront, attackers such as Jordan Ayew, Inaki Williams, and Antoine Semenyo will be crucial in leading the charge for goals.

In addition, standout players like Mohammed Kudus and Brandon Thomas-Asante will look to provide the spark that can turn the tide in Ghana’s favor.

The Black Stars are determined to make amends for their defeat against Angola and show their fighting spirit on the pitch.
