Coach Otto Addo has announced his 25-man squad for the must-watch double-header against Sudan. Defenders Alexander Djiku and Gideon Mensah make a return to the lineup after missing out on last month’s qualifiers against Angola and Niger, signaling Ghana’s intent to solidify its defense for the vital clashes.

Otto Addo adds FC Samartex left-back Isaac Afful, who has received his first national team call-up. Afful’s remarkable performances in the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League and his standout showings in the Ghana Premier League have not gone unnoticed, as he now gears up to don the Black Stars jersey in one of Ghana’s most crucial fixtures of the year.

Otto Addo has also included, Olympique Lyon forward Ernest Nuamah and Atalanta’s Ibrahim Sulemana. Both players missed the last round of qualifiers due to injury setbacks, but their recovery has come at the perfect time, adding much-needed firepower to Ghana’s frontline. Their pace, skill, and clinical finishing will be key as the Black Stars aim to secure a spot in the 2024 AFCON tournament.

The first leg of the AFCON qualifiers against Sudan will take place at the iconic Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10. This marks the Black Stars’ return to their home ground for the first time in three years, heightening the excitement for both players and fans alike. Ghana must capitalize on the home advantage to set the tone for the reverse fixture, which will be played at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Libya on October 15.
