Drake is taking a break from music to focus on his health
Drake has announced his retirement from the music industry, stating, “I need to focus on my health first and foremost.” The multi-Grammy winner revealed that he has had stomach difficulties for years just hours after the release of his new album, For All The Dogs.
“I’m going to be honest, I probably won’t make music for a little while,” he stated on his radio show on Friday. Several future gigs have been canceled as a result of his statement. “First and foremost, I need to focus on my health — and I’ll talk about that soon enough,” the Hotline Bling artist stated.
Nothing out of the ordinary, but you know, I want people to be healthy in life, and I’ve had the most bizarre stomach problems for years.” “I’m going to lock the studio door for a little bit, I’m not even sure what a little bit is.” Perhaps a year or so. “Perhaps a little longer,” he added on his SiriusXM show, Table For One.
He later posted a clip from the radio show on Instagram, telling his 143 million followers, “See ya when I see ya.” On Friday and Saturday nights, he will play in his hometown of Toronto. According to his website’s tour section, shows scheduled after that date have been rescheduled.
Drake had scheduled appearances in Denver, New Orleans, Nashville, and Columbus, Ohio. Drake is the latest performer to take a vacation or cancel a tour date due to health concerns. Madonna said in July that she was postponing her tour by three months after being admitted to the hospital with a dangerous bacterial infection the month before. Bruce Springsteen revealed last month that he was canceling his September tour dates owing to a peptic ulcer, a form of lesion in the stomach lining or small intestine.
Drake, 36, has emerged as one of hip hop’s hottest acts. His five-year-old son, who also appears in the music video for the single track 8AM in Charlotte, designed the cover of his latest album. He released a poetry collection earlier this year.
