Gloria Sarfo has set the entertainment space abuzz with a passionate Instagram post that’s got everyone talking and she’s not holding back!

In a bold and emotional message shared on July 15, 2025, the award-winning actress expressed deep frustration over the stagnation of Ghana’s once-thriving film industry and compared it to the buzzing, fast-paced movie machine in Nigeria’s Nollywood.

“Honestly, if you’re in Nigeria as an actor, you’d realize that you’ve REALLY WASTED YOUR TALENT back in Ghana,” she wrote. “People are shooting back-to-back, nonstop. Meanwhile, in Ghana, producers STRUGGLE to shoot even one film in a year.”

Ouch. But she’s not wrong and the internet agrees.

Sarfo, best known for her iconic role in Efiewura and her award-winning performance in The Perfect Picture: Ten Years Later, didn’t stop there. She passionately called out the heartbreaking reality many talented Ghanaian creatives face, a lack of opportunities, projects, and industry support.

“Great great talents who’ll do exceptionally WELL in Nigeria meeeehn. And there are people to PUSH THEM too. But in our CASE… Oh my HEART,” she lamented.

Fans and fellow actors are hailing Gloria Sarfo as the voice the industry needs right now. In her emotional post, she shared how friends and fans have long told her she’s “wasting [her] talent in Ghana.” Now, she’s echoing their sentiments loud and clear.

“There are LOTS of talents wasting in Ghana year by year. Trust me,” she wrote. “I KNOW what we have back in my country. I KNOOOOOOOOOOOW.”

Her call-to-action? For Ghanaian actors to take the reins, step up, and create their own opportunities, even if it means producing films themselves.

Once seen as a cinematic force in Africa, Ghana’s film industry now finds itself playing catch-up. “It used to be the other way around just a few years ago,” Gloria pointed out. “So WHAT HAPPENED? Or is it the NUMBERS, or WHAT?”

That single question has reignited conversations across social media, with fans, filmmakers, and actors alike weighing in on the crisis and what needs to change.
