Ini Edo, a Nigerian actress, has praised women for consistently embracing active leadership positions across the continent, particularly in the creative sphere. The actress was asked about her contributions to the film industry, namely her work as co-producer and actor in ‘Shanty Town’, which is one of the most watched films worldwide.

In an interview with Joy Prime, she stated, “I mean, for me as a woman in this industry and this particular generation, I think it’s such a blessing that women have finally or are finally taking their rightful positions in the creative industry all around the world.” The Nollywood actress was also quick to mention the growing number of women back home in Nigeria who have demonstrated their ability to produce and direct fantastic films in theaters.

Ini Edo stated that most movies that have done well and grossed a lot of money in theaters had female leads, indicating that we are gradually moving away from the perception of women as a’minor gender’ in the corporate world, politics, the creative industry, and other fields.

The actress attributes her success to hard work, confidence, and determination, and believes that the curse that women can’t hold leadership roles has been broken, and things can only grow better in the future.

Ini Edo is now in Ghana to promote the premiere of the film ‘ONE NIGHT GUESTS’, directed by Peter Sedufia and produced by Chris Odeh. The film will premiere on December 25, 2024, at Silverbird Cinemas in Ghana and Nigeria, and will star Chidi Mokeme, Warri Pikin, Lasisi Elenu, Akah Nnani, Majid Michel, Yvonne Okoro, Roselyn Ngissah, James Gardiner, Annabel, and a number of other actors.
