“It wasn’t even an intentional thing. So for me, I like to create music with people that I connect with on a personal level,” Joeboy revealed. “Almost all, like, even when I and Kwesi Arthur did ‘Baajo’, he’s my kind of person, we could have conversations for hours without having anything major to talk about.”

Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus, better known as Joeboy, stressed the significance of forging personal bonds with the artists he collaborates with, highlighting the depth of connection as a key factor in their creative synergy. “It is hard for me to come across people like that in the music industry,” he added. “Almost everybody I have a song with, even till now, are people that I can connect with on a personal level.”

Beyond the personal connections, Joeboy also touched upon the transformative impact of new media, particularly social media, on the music industry. He recounted his own journey, how he was discovered by Mr. Eazi through social media platforms, underscoring the democratization of access to the industry.

“I feel like social media has broken the dodge,” Joeboy reflected. “At first, there used to be gatekeepers in the industry that if this person does not accept or acknowledge you, you are not going to make it. Now all of a sudden you can just get into the industry by just posting a cover or a song of yourself singing randomly on your bed and next thing is it is getting millions of views and everybody wants to work with you and connect with you.”
