Medikal, a Ghanaian rapper, has spoken out about his experiences after being arrested for flashing a pistol on social media in 2021. On Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty, the rapper detailed his arrest, saying, “I felt inhumane, it wasn’t right.”
Medikal also disclosed that in order to travel, he had to clear his name with embassies due to his criminal record, which he described as a difficult process. “My last encounter with the police was not a pleasant one; I had to clear my name from embassies before I could travel,” he stated on December 16. He also stated that he was unaware that brandishing a registered firearm on social media was an infraction.
The rapper expressed unhappiness with how his case was handled and described it as unfair because he believes he did not commit a crime. He clarifies that “brandishing isn’t when you’re home taking a picture of something the police registered and licensed for you themselves” . Medikal recounted his demise and revealed why he tweeted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had been unfair in imprisoning him.
The rapper clarified that he did not commit a crime, and that while he does not trust the future government, he hopes it would treat individuals properly.
