Miller Maxwell Adu Takyi (born 12 August 1993) is a Ghanaian lawyer, public administrator, youth leader, and political activist. He serves as Manager of the Good Causes Foundation at the National Lottery Authority (NLA), where he oversees initiatives that support social development through the allocation of lottery proceeds to charitable causes. Throughout his career, Takyi has been recognized for his leadership in student governance, youth advocacy, public administration, and political organization in Ghana.
He has held several leadership positions within student organizations, including serving as Vice President of the Ghana School of Law (Greenhill Campus), Chief Justice of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) Students’ Representative Council, President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) at the University of Ghana, and Head of the Judicial Committee of the University Students’ Association of Ghana (USAG). His contributions to student leadership earned him national recognition, including the National Union of Ghana Students’ Chief Justice of the Year Award in 2022.
Early Life and Family
Miller Maxwell Adu Takyi was born on 12 August 1993 in Fiapre, located in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region of Ghana. He was born to Robert Adu, a teacher and tailor, and Elizabeth Gyamaah Manu, a trader and farmer.
He comes from a family of seven children and is among six surviving siblings. His eldest sibling, Inspector Eric Obeng Adu, is deceased. His other siblings are Ernest Adu, Richmond Adu Tutu, Felix Ofori Awuah, and Bridget Krobea Asante-Yeboah. Takyi has often acknowledged the influence of his parents’ emphasis on education, discipline, and community service in shaping his personal and professional life.
Fiapre remains his hometown and has been central to his community engagement and political activities.
Education
Miller Maxwell Adu Takyi began his education at Sarfo Memorial Early Childhood Development Centre before attending Ridge Experimental Kindergarten and Primary School in Sunyani. He later studied at St. Thomas Roman Catholic Junior High School in Fiapre, where he served as Boys’ Prefect.
He completed his secondary education at Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC), Berekum, where he was elected Students’ Representative Council (SRC) President.
Miller Maxwell Adu Takyi proceeded to the University of Ghana, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. Driven by an interest in law and governance, he enrolled at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and later a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Trade and Business Law.
Miller Maxwell Adu Takyi completed his professional legal education at the Ghana School of Law, earning the Professional Law Certificate (BL) and qualifying for legal practice in Ghana.
Leadership Development
Miller Maxwell Adu Takyi has participated in several leadership and international development programmes.
He was selected for the Young Leaders Programme organized by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) Ghana, where he received training in leadership, project management, conflict resolution, organizational management, public relations, media engagement, and Ghana’s legislative processes.
In August 2018, he participated in the 22nd Session of the Youth Assembly in New York City under the theme “Breaking New Grounds for Sustainable Development.” Miller Maxwell Adu Takyi later returned as an alumnus for the 27th Session of the Youth Assembly in 2022, themed “Dare to Reshape the World.”

Professional Career
Takyi began his public service career during his national service as Administrative Secretary to the Municipal Chief Executive of the Sunyani West Municipality.
He subsequently served as:
- President, National Service Personnel Association (Sunyani West Municipality)
- President, National Service Personnel Association (Brong Ahafo Region)
He later joined the National Lottery Authority (NLA), first as an intern in the Legal Department before being appointed Personal Aide to Hon. Samuel Awuku, then Director-General of the National Lottery Authority and Member of Parliament for Akuapem North.
Takyi currently serves as Manager of the Good Causes Foundation at the National Lottery Authority Headquarters in Accra. In this role, he oversees programmes aimed at supporting education, healthcare, sports development, social welfare, and other charitable initiatives financed through the Good Causes Fund.
Political Activities
Takyi has been actively involved in Ghanaian politics, particularly within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
His political involvement began in 2011, when he joined the Young Patriots and First-Time Voters movement ahead of the 2012 general elections. During the 2012 elections, he served as a polling agent at the Fiapre Roman Catholic Primary School “A” Polling Station.
In 2014, he became one of the youngest elected Polling Station Chairmen in his constituency and later served as Deputy Zonal Secretary for the Fiapre Zone in the Sunyani West Constituency.
While studying at the University of Ghana, he became the first second-year student to be elected President of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) chapter at the university in 2016. During his tenure, he led campaigns in support of the NPP’s parliamentary and presidential candidates.
Takyi later contested for the position of Youth Organizer of the Sunyani West Constituency, an experience he has described as an important milestone in his political development despite not winning the election.
He subsequently served in several capacities within the NPP National Youth Wing, including:
- Member of the Student Committee under National Youth Organizer Sammi Awuku.
- Member of the Operations Team in the National Organizer’s Office.
- Deputy National Youth Wing Administrator.
He contributed to the 2025 constitutional amendment process of the New Patriotic Party. Several proposals he advanced were adopted, including expanding polling station executives, increasing the number of Electoral Area Coordinators from one to five, and enhancing TESCON’s voting representation by extending voting rights to patrons.
Takyi also served as a member of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s Youth Campaign Team during the party’s 2026 presidential primaries and contributed to policy development through membership on the Trade and Industry Policy Committee, Youth Development Committee, and the Identifiable Groups Committee on Education.
Community Service
Takyi has consistently promoted educational development within his hometown and former schools. He has returned to his primary, junior high, and senior high schools to mentor students, share his educational journey, and donate learning materials.
His community engagement reflects his commitment to youth empowerment and increasing educational opportunities for younger generations.
