The Youth Employment Agency (YEA), under the visionary leadership of its CEO Malik Basintale, has achieved another remarkable milestone in youth empowerment. In partnership with the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the agency has successfully graduated the final batch of 5,000 Fire Service Assistants at the Fire Service Academy, James Town.
This landmark achievement comes just days after the YEA, in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, passed out thousands of youth under the Community Police Assistants (CPA) Module at the Tesano Police Training School. Together, these initiatives reflect YEA’s growing impact in providing structured employment opportunities for Ghanaian youth while strengthening national security and emergency response systems.
The graduation ceremony was graced by the Chief Fire Officer and the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, who both commended the YEA for this bold and forward-thinking step. They emphasized that deploying thousands of trained Fire Service Assistants across the country will not only enhance Ghana’s emergency response capacity but also provide meaningful employment opportunities to the youth.
Addressing the graduates, CEO Malik Basintale highlighted YEA’s commitment to ensuring that Ghanaian youth are not left behind in the nation’s development agenda. He reaffirmed the agency’s mission to equip young people with skills and opportunities that contribute to both personal growth and national progress.
The deployment of these 5,000 Fire Service Assistants comes at a crucial time, as Ghana continues to face increasing demands on its fire and emergency services. With their training complete, the recruits are expected to support the Ghana National Fire Service in fire prevention, community safety education, and rapid response operations, thereby bolstering national resilience.
Under Malik Basintale’s leadership, YEA has expanded its footprint through strategic partnerships that directly tackle unemployment while strengthening state institutions. The successful rollouts of both the Community Police Assistants Module and the Fire Service Assistants Module showcase the agency’s multi-sectoral approach to youth employment.
As the final batch of Fire Service Assistants prepare to serve, the YEA’s initiative stands as a testament to what proactive youth empowerment policies can achieve, creating jobs, securing communities, and building a stronger Ghana for the future.
