The 2024 edition of the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards officially kicks off! The launch event, held at the Multimedia Group Limited premises on Saturday, June 20, 2024, showcased the incredible talent within Ghana’s vibrant disc jockey industry. Produced by Merqury Republic, this 12th edition promises to be the most spectacular yet, with Joy Prime as the official media partner.
Emily Nyarko, the channel manager at Joy Prime, expressed her excitement about partnering with the prestigious event. “Partnering with the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards aligns perfectly with our vision to showcase and elevate the diverse musical landscape of Ghana,” she stated. Emily assured viewers that Joy Prime would deliver an unforgettable experience, capturing every moment of the event to inspire DJs in Ghana and beyond.
Guinness Ghana, the headline sponsor, is once again lending its support to the event, with a particular focus this year on promoting female DJs. Nana Yaa Amoah Owusu, Marketing Manager for the Spirit and RTDs category, highlighted this commitment: “DJs are the life of the party, and our flagship brand, Smirnoff, is also the life of the party. This year, we want to put a spotlight on the female DJ fraternity while also ensuring overall capacity building.”
As part of this initiative, Guinness Ghana will host an all-female DJ concert, celebrating the incredible skills of female DJs and encouraging corporate Ghana to support this movement to achieve global recognition.
David Quaye, coordinator for Merqury Republic, shared some of the exciting activities lined up for this year’s awards. The Pub Festival will take organizers on a journey outside Greater Accra to discover talented DJs in various regions, while the Ghana DJ Clinic will empower DJs through conferences and educational programs. Additionally, the regional category, canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak, has been reintroduced to recognize outstanding DJs across different regions.
